Dumpster Dive
Original Release Date: January 19, 2010
I like the variety of angles in this chase scene. It keeps things interesting. The only thing I would have done differently now is that I probably would have had Bee Man chasing Mike from left-to-right instead of right-to-left. That way, they chase would be happening in the same direction as the panels are read. It's a little more natural that way.
Mike's failed attempt to slow down a flying adversary by tripping him with a trash can is a grade-A screwup. I love it, and I think it's one of the better jokes I've written. You can't give him too much grief, though--he's in a panic as it is. He's trying anything he can think of to get Bee Man off his tail.
Mike's attempt to hide in a dumpster is akin to Bart and Lisa attempting to ride in a kangaroo's pouch on an episode of The Simpsons. Cartoons glamorize it, but in reality, it's not all that great. It gets the job done here, but with smelly results.
