The idea here is that's Mike's anger is making him irrational, paranoid, and generally out of line. Renee shows some familiarity with Stephen, and because of that, Mike feels like he can't trust her anymore and goes immediately on the attack. It's bad behavior and Renee doesn't deserve it. He's not good to himself here, either.
