Here's a weird comic. There are a couple of things going on here. First, the ninja flip-out is a reference to a website called "Real Ultimate Power," which was about ninja and written from the perspective of an 8-year-old. One of the ninja's powers, as described by this website, was that they would occasionally flip out and uncontrollably kill everyone around them. At the time, I intended for this to be part of Stu's character, but later decided I didn't like it. I think it worked out better without incorporating these flip-outs--not having them makes Stu seem more competent and stable.
Also, I had this idea that as Stu was recovering from a flip-out, he wouldn't be able to speak with contractions. This is totally ripped off of Jeph Jacques' Questionable Content, where, at the time, the character Faye did not speak with contractions. I think Stu continued to not use contractions until my next extended hiatus from the comic, but I got bored with or forgot about the idea and dropped it after that.
Finally, I love the exchange in the last panel. Stu is super proud of kicking that guy through a window.
