Stu Versus San Francisco, Part 24
Original Release Date: December 9, 2008
More action! The overall lack of backgrounds on this page is distracting, and it was in the first part of this fight, as well. Remember, this is a ballroom full of people, but it's difficult to keep that in mind when there's nothing but white backgrounds. Even if I didn't want to take the time to draw that, some motion lines could have brought some more life to this page, but I still wasn't very good at drawing them at this stage of my life. Also, I was probably in a hurry and rushed through the page, which also fit well with this stage of my life.
Panel five is creepy. Stu looms threateningly in the background. (Although, he is oddly stiff for an action scene. His pose seems out of place, in hindsight.) I don't think there's any doubt that he kills Sledgehammer Guy if Ponytail Guy doesn't intervene (or maybe Grant with some telekinesis). It's a grim reminder that even though Stu is a good guy, he's going to do what he has to do to survive and protect the people in that room.
Lastly, yet another sitcom reference. I think everybody in the World of Mike and the Ninja just goes home and watches reruns when they don't appear on a page.
