Stu Versus San Francisco, Part 37
Original Release Date: March 24, 2009
The original idea was for readers to feel a great deal of satisfaction from this page. Stu the Ninja finally gets his man, the man responsible for the death of his parents and unbridled political corruption in the city, and who hired bounty hunters to eliminate our intrepid ninja. Stu is beating him within an inch of his life. This is great, right? Pratt deserves it, right?
Pratt does deserve it, but whenever I see this page, I don't feel the satisfaction I anticipated. It actually makes me feel really uncomfortable. This isn't the Disney movie moment where the irritating bad guy businessman finally gets exposed as a slimeball and punched at the end of the movie. Stu has lost it, and is taking out years of frustration on Pratt. It's not fun. The weight of Stu's outpouring of emotion suffocates any joy in seeing Pratt battered and bloodied.
The dialogue is not my favorite. Then again, I don't know. When I get really mad, it's really hard to talk. Judgment gets clouded, and I want to fill everything I say with big words and righteous indignation, but it never comes out how I want it do, and usually I choke on my own spit, too. Maybe Stu has the same problem and this dialogue is natural, given the situation.
